Simplio3D Product Configurator

Description

Simplio3D is a 3D product configurator and CPQ platform. This plugin brings your Simplio3D projects into WordPress as native blocks that you arrange like any other content, and connects them to WooCommerce.

Simplio3D stays responsible for your 3D models, materials, option logic, conditional rules, pricing and requests. WordPress controls the page layout, the styling and the store.

Blocks (Simplio3D v3)

Find them in the block inserter under Simplio3D:

  • Viewer — the interactive 3D view of a project.
  • Options — one option from your project (material, colour, size, text, upload, toggle…). Add one block per option and place them anywhere: next to the viewer, below it, in columns.
  • Price — the live configuration price.
  • Summary — the current configuration in plain words.
  • Submit / Add to Cart — send a quote request through Simplio3D, or add the configuration to the WooCommerce cart.

All blocks of a configurator share one live configuration: changing a material in an Options block instantly updates the 3D view, the price, the summary and what goes into the cart — without reloading the page. Several configurators can live on the same page.

Highlights

  • Connect your Simplio3D account securely: you sign in on app.simplio3d.ai and approve the site. No passwords or API keys are copied into WordPress.
  • Pick projects and options from visual lists — no IDs, tokens or JSON to paste.
  • Blocks added after the Viewer pick up its project automatically.
  • Supports Simplio3D conditional logic: options and choices show, hide and limit themselves automatically.
  • Secure WooCommerce pricing: the shopper’s browser never sets the price. When a configuration is added to the cart, your WordPress server asks Simplio3D to validate it and calculate the price.
  • Configuration details and a picture of the configuration appear in the cart, checkout, order emails and WooCommerce Orders.
  • Quote requests go to your Simplio3D Requests with your usual email, PDF and webhook settings.
  • Augmented reality: shoppers place the configured product in their room — on iPhone and iPad (AR Quick Look) and Android (Google Scene Viewer), or from a computer with a QR code that opens the same page on their phone with the same configuration.
  • A floating toolbar on the 3D view — configuration summary, AR, dimensions, reset view, snapshot, full screen and reset configuration — shown as set in your Simplio3D project, or turned on/off per Viewer block.
  • Dimensions: W / H / D labels around the product show the sizes shoppers type into Number Input options (e.g. “W: 120 cm”) and follow the camera.
  • Responsive and touch friendly, with a separate mobile viewer height.
  • Starter layouts (block patterns), per-block scoped Custom CSS, and a [simplio3d] shortcode for page builders.
  • The 3D engine loads only on pages with a Viewer block, only when it scrolls into view.

Existing users: Legacy mode

Sites that used earlier versions of this plugin (the [simplio3d_configurator] shortcode and the app.simplio3d.com platform) stay in Legacy mode after updating — your pages, WooCommerce setup and orders keep working exactly as before. When you are ready, Simplio3D Migration scans your site, shows everything that uses the legacy integration and lets you switch to Simplio3D v3. Switching never rewrites your content and can be undone.

External services

This plugin connects to the Simplio3D platform (https://app.simplio3d.ai), a service operated by Simplio3D, which is required for Simplio3D v3 blocks to work:

  • Account connection — when an administrator clicks “Connect Simplio3D”, the browser opens app.simplio3d.ai to sign in and approve the site. WordPress then exchanges a one-time code (server to server) for a site token that is stored encrypted in your database. Sent: your site URL, site name and the plugin version.
  • Editor data — while you edit pages, your WordPress server requests your project list, project summaries and default prices from the Simplio3D API using the site token.
  • Configurator display — visitors’ browsers load the published (shared) project data and 3D model files from Simplio3D servers. Sent: the project’s public share link and the page’s address (so owners can restrict which domains may embed a project).
  • Add to Cart — your WordPress server sends the chosen options to Simplio3D to validate the configuration and calculate the price. No customer personal data is sent.
  • Submit (quote requests) — the visitor’s browser sends the configuration and the form details the visitor enters (for example name and email address) to Simplio3D, where they are stored in the project owner’s Requests.
  • Augmented reality (AR) — only when a visitor chooses “View in your space”: their browser exports the configured 3D model and uploads it to Simplio3D, which keeps it for 24 hours; for the QR code on a computer the chosen options are stored with it so the phone can open the same configuration. No personal data is sent. On Android the model’s link is then opened in Google Scene Viewer (Google Play Services for AR — Google terms: https://policies.google.com/terms, privacy: https://policies.google.com/privacy); on iPhone and iPad Apple’s AR Quick Look shows it on the device. If the project owner turned on AR analytics in Simplio3D, anonymous AR usage events (the event, device type and screen size) are sent to Simplio3D.

Simplio3D terms of use: https://www.simplio3d.com/terms-of-use — privacy policy: https://www.simplio3d.com/privacy-policy

In Legacy mode the [simplio3d_configurator] shortcode embeds a configurator from app.simplio3d.com (the Simplio3D v1 platform) in an iframe, and WooCommerce order updates are sent to the order link provided by that configurator.

Blocks

This plugin provides 5 blocks.

  • Simplio3D Summary The current configuration in plain words, updated in real time.
  • Simplio3D Viewer The interactive 3D view of a Simplio3D project. Options, Price, Summary and Add to Cart blocks on the page control it.
  • Simplio3D Price The live price of the configuration, updated instantly as options change.
  • Simplio3D Submit / Add to Cart Send the configuration as a quote request through Simplio3D, or add it to the WooCommerce cart with a price verified by Simplio3D.
  • Simplio3D Options One option from a Simplio3D project (material, colour, size, text…). Add one block per option and place them anywhere.

Installation

  1. Install and activate the plugin (Plugins Add New search “Simplio3D”).
  2. Go to Simplio3D in the WordPress admin menu and click Log in to Simplio3D (or Create a free account — new accounts include a 30-day trial). Approve the site on app.simplio3d.ai.
  3. Get a project to show. New account or free trial? Start from a ready-made template: on app.simplio3d.ai open Projects Templates, pick one (furniture, apparel, jewellery, construction…) and save it to your account. Then open the project, click Share and enable the share link (no password).
  4. Back in WordPress: Simplio3D Account & Settings “New page: Viewer + sidebar” creates a page with every block ready — choose your project in the Viewer block. Or edit any page, add the Simplio3D Viewer block and choose your project, then add a Simplio3D Options block for each option, plus Price, Summary and Submit / Add to Cart wherever you like.
  5. For Add to Cart (needs WooCommerce), create a simple product — any price — and choose it in the Add to Cart block with “Simplio3D price”. The product is linked to the project and priced by Simplio3D.
  6. Publish and open the page.

Your project must be published (Share) in Simplio3D, without a share password, and — if you use domain restrictions — allow your site’s domain.

Test everything during your trial

With a template project on a published page you can try the whole plugin:

  • Configure — change options: the 3D view, price and summary update instantly; options hidden by the template’s rules appear and disappear.
  • Toolbar — summary, snapshot, full screen, reset view and reset configuration on the 3D view.
  • Dimensions — with a template that has size inputs (Number Input), W / H / D labels follow the sizes you type (Viewer block Toolbar, AR & dimensions).
  • Augmented reality — set Viewer block Toolbar, AR & dimensions Augmented reality On. On a phone tap “View in your space”; on a computer the AR button shows a QR code for your phone.
  • Quote request — a Submit block sends the configuration to Simplio3D Requests (with your email/PDF settings).
  • WooCommerce — Add to Cart puts the configuration, its verified price and a picture in the cart; check out (e.g. with “Cash on delivery”) and find the configuration in WooCommerce Orders.
  • Full configurator — a Modular template (or Viewer block Display mode Full Simplio3D configurator) shows the complete hosted configurator.

The Simplio3D Status widget on Dashboard Home shows your trial days left. When a trial ends without a plan, configurators show “temporarily unavailable” until you subscribe (Simplio3D Account & Settings Subscribe) — your pages and settings stay as they are.

FAQ

I used the plugin before. Will my configurator stop working?

No. Updated sites stay in Legacy mode and the [simplio3d_configurator] shortcode, the Add to Basket bridge and your order data keep working. Switching to Simplio3D v3 is optional (Simplio3D Migration) and reversible.

Can a shopper change the price?

No. The price in the cart is calculated by Simplio3D on the server from a validated configuration. Unknown options, options hidden by conditional logic and out-of-range values are refused, and the WooCommerce product must be linked to the configurator’s project. The price the browser displays is for display only.

Which option types are supported?

Dropdown, Select Material (including materials from a category), Thumbnail Selector, Carousel, Checkbox, Toggle, Number Input, price variables, Text Input, File Upload, Pattern Designer (with its colors) and Design Canvas. Text, uploaded images, pattern colors and designs are drawn on the 3D model as in Simplio3D, with the characters, file types and adjustments you allow there, and included in quote requests and orders. Modular projects (placing modules) use the full Simplio3D configurator.

Modular projects?

The Viewer block shows Modular projects as the full Simplio3D configurator (module placement happens inside it). Choose “Full Simplio3D configurator” display mode for any project to use the complete hosted experience.

Some projects can’t be added to the cart with the Simplio3D price. Why?

A few advanced pricing features (for example bespoke pricing blocks or numeric conditional rules that change which options are priced) cannot yet be verified on the server. For those projects the block editor warns you; use the WooCommerce product price or Submit mode instead.

Does the cart show a picture of the configuration?

Yes. With the 3D Viewer on the page, Add to Cart attaches a picture of the configuration (Add to Cart block “Attach a picture of the configuration”, on by default). It replaces the product image in the cart, the mini cart and the checkout, and stays with the order (emails, WooCommerce Orders). Without a Viewer on the page the product’s own image is shown. If a picture could not be kept, Simplio3D Diagnostics says why.

Where do I get help?

Simplio3D Account & Settings Support & suggestions: the documentation (with a WordPress plugin guide), a support ticket to the Simplio3D team (sign in with your Simplio3D account; Copy system info gives you everything we need to paste into it) and feature suggestions. Without a Simplio3D account, use the WordPress.org support forum for this plugin.

Does it support augmented reality (AR)?

Yes. With AR on — in the Simplio3D project (Project Settings AR) or per Viewer block (Toolbar, AR & dimensions Augmented reality) — shoppers tap “View in your space” to place the configured product in their room with their phone’s AR viewer (iPhone, iPad, Android phones with Google Play Services for AR). On a computer, the AR button shows a QR code: scanning it opens the same page on the phone with the same configuration. Try-on (wearable) AR opens in the Simplio3D viewer.

Can I hide the toolbar on the 3D view?

Yes: Viewer block Toolbar, AR & dimensions Toolbar Hide (or toolbar="hide" in the shortcode). By default the Viewer follows your Simplio3D project’s Floating Tools settings, tool by tool.

How do I show the product’s dimensions?

In Simplio3D, mark the size values of a Number Input option (value type “Dimension”) with Show dimensions. The Viewer then shows W / H / D labels with the sizes the shopper chooses; the ruler button in the toolbar shows or hides them. Viewer block Toolbar, AR & dimensions Dimensions chooses whether they are shown when the page opens (or dimensions="on|off" in the shortcode).

I’m new or on the free trial and have no projects. How do I try it?

Start from a Simplio3D template: on app.simplio3d.ai open Projects Templates, save one to your account, open it and Share enable the share link. Then in WordPress use Simplio3D Account & Settings “New page: Viewer + sidebar” and choose the project. See Installation Test everything during your trial for a checklist of every feature to try.

Can I use it with Elementor or the classic editor?

Yes. Use Elementor’s Shortcode widget (or the classic editor, or any page builder) with the [simplio3d …] shortcode — one widget for the Viewer, one per option, and one each for Price, Summary and Submit / Add to Cart; they share one live configuration exactly like the blocks, including the toolbar, dimensions and AR, and they come alive in Elementor’s editor preview. Every Simplio3D block shows its ready-to-copy shortcode (with the project and option ids) in its Advanced panel, e.g. [simplio3d block="viewer" project="PROJECT-ID" height="600px" toolbar="show" ar="on"].

Does it work without WooCommerce?

Yes. Viewer, Options, Price, Summary and Submit (quote requests) work without WooCommerce. Add to Cart requires WooCommerce.

Is the plugin available in my language?

It is being translated into many languages on translate.wordpress.org. Translations appear in WordPress automatically once they are approved. To help with your language, visit https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/simplio3d-product-configurator/

Excellent integration. It makes the custom ordering process feel native to WordPress. My customers love seeing their unique configuration details and snapshots directly in their basket and order emails. It really adds a layer of professionalism to the store. Easy to set up and works exactly as described.

Changelog

2.2.0

  • New: projects that use Simplio3D’s advanced pricing — markup, tier pricing, discounts, charges (setup, labor, installation, surcharges), shipping options, tax blocks or an order quantity — now show the same price as in Simplio3D. Earlier versions left these steps out of the displayed price.
  • New: when the total is not final, the Price block says “Estimated total” and why (for example “Choose a delivery option to see shipping”). Shoppers choose a delivery option right in the block, and “Price details” (closed until opened) lists the quantity and every step: discounts, charges, shipping and tax.
  • Improved: quote requests send the configuration and the chosen delivery option, so Simplio3D checks the price you receive.
  • Note: WooCommerce still charges the price Simplio3D confirms on the server for the items, discounts and charges; WooCommerce adds its own shipping and tax. Simplio3D only confirms a price with these steps for a plugin that shows them, so update before you sell such a project through WooCommerce.

2.1.0

  • Fixed: text, uploaded images and pattern colors now appear on the 3D model in the Viewer, as they do in Simplio3D. A shopper’s name or number, a logo they upload and the pattern they choose were included in the order but never drawn on the product.
  • New: Text Input follows your Simplio3D settings — allowed characters, maximum length, the character counter — and offers the adjustments you allow (move, rotate, scale, color, size, bold and italic).
  • New: File Upload uses the file types and size limit set in Simplio3D (PNG and JPEG up to 5 MB when none are set) and offers the adjustments you allow. A smaller logo stays one logo; it never repeats. Transparent images keep their transparency on the model.
  • New: Pattern Designer — shoppers can change the pattern’s colors with the palettes you set in Simplio3D, hide a color and reset. Colors that would not change anything on the model are not offered.
  • New: Design Canvas — shoppers open a design editor, add text, images and shapes, see where the design lands on the product, and apply it. The design is drawn on the 3D model, attached to quote requests and saved with WooCommerce orders.
  • Improved: the cart, the order and the configuration summary describe these options in Simplio3D’s words (for example “Player Name: “SMITH” (Color: #FF0000)” or “Pattern 2 (customized) — Color 1: #16A34A”). The same product with other colors, text styling or another design becomes its own cart line.
  • Improved: transparent materials with a custom index of refraction look as they do in Simplio3D, and the displayed price follows Simplio3D’s latest pricing engine. The price charged in the cart is still calculated by Simplio3D on the server.

2.0.3

  • Fixed: connecting Simplio3D from a block in the editor no longer loads the WordPress admin inside the page you are editing (followed by “app.simplio3d.ai refused to connect”). Log in to Simplio3D or Create a free account right in the block: Simplio3D opens in a separate window, your page and unsaved changes stay, and every Simplio3D block updates as soon as the account is connected — the block you clicked opens its project list.
  • Improved: ready for translation on translate.wordpress.org. Internal text keys of the storefront no longer show up as strings to translate, and dimension labels follow each language’s punctuation.
  • Fixed: two messages and an FAQ answer now name the current menu and panel labels (Simplio3D Account & Settings; Toolbar, AR & dimensions).
  • Fixed: the picture of the configuration in the cart and checkout. It could be missing (a large Viewer on a high-resolution screen, or Add to Cart clicked while the 3D view was still loading) or turn black with a transparent Viewer background. It now always fits, waits for the 3D view, shows the options just chosen, and also appears in the classic checkout’s order summary. A picture that cannot be kept is noted in Simplio3D Diagnostics.
  • New: the [simplio3d] shortcode for Elementor and other page builders now takes every block setting except Custom CSS and styling — including an option’s own label, the price prefix, suffix and “price before tax”, the summary’s SKUs and quantity, the success message and the price alignment. A block’s Copy shortcode now includes every setting you changed, so the shortcode shows exactly what the block shows.

2.0.2

  • Fixed: the Viewer now follows options that change the product’s shape, as in Simplio3D: options that show or hide parts (e.g. number of doors, hide front doors), size inputs (width/height/depth resize the model), and scenery rooms that stay under a resized product.
  • Fixed: the Viewer opens on the same default configuration and camera framing as the Simplio3D share view, including narrow page columns.
  • Fixed: a glass or mirror part could disappear on smaller screens.
  • New: augmented reality. “View in your space” puts the configured product in the shopper’s room on iPhone, iPad and Android; on a computer a QR code continues on the phone with the same configuration and page. In the full configurator, AR comes from the Simplio3D viewer in the frame.
  • New: the Viewer’s floating toolbar — configuration summary, AR, dimensions, reset view, snapshot, full screen, reset configuration. It follows the Simplio3D project’s Floating Tools settings; turn the toolbar, AR or dimensions on or off per Viewer block (Toolbar, AR & dimensions), or with toolbar="…" / ar="…" / dimensions="…" in the shortcode. (The full configurator follows these per-block choices with an upcoming Simplio3D update; until then it uses the project’s own settings.)
  • New: dimensions — W / H / D labels with the sizes chosen in Number Input options marked “Show dimensions”, as in the Simplio3D share view.
  • Improved: installation steps and a trial checklist — start from a Simplio3D template and try every feature.
  • Improved: Elementor — [simplio3d] Shortcode widgets come alive in Elementor’s editor preview, also when added while editing.
  • New: a Support & suggestions card on Simplio3D Account & Settings — documentation, a support ticket with one-click system info, and feature suggestions.
  • New: a Simplio3D Status widget on Dashboard Home — connection, plan and trial, anything that needs your attention, and your configurator pages at a glance (hide it anytime in Screen Options).
  • New: a gentle invitation to review the plugin, shown only once Simplio3D is up and running for you; “Maybe later” and “Don’t show again” are always one click away.

2.0.1

  • Simplio3D brand icons in the WordPress admin: the “S” mark in the admin menu and on the Simplio3D block category, and a distinct Simplio3D icon for each block (Viewer, Options, Price, Summary, Submit / Add to Cart).

2.0.0

  • New: Simplio3D v3 blocks — Viewer, Options, Price, Summary and Submit / Add to Cart — in a “Simplio3D” block category, sharing one live configuration per configurator.
  • New: secure account connection (browser sign-in + approval; no passwords or API keys in WordPress).
  • New: WooCommerce Add to Cart with server-side validation and pricing by Simplio3D; configuration details and image in cart, checkout, emails and orders; project product linking. A linked product sold at the Simplio3D price can only be added through its configurator — except when your Simplio3D dashboard’s WooCommerce connection also sells it, which keeps working unchanged.
  • New: quote requests through the Simplio3D request pipeline.
  • New: Simplio3D admin page (account, trial/subscription status), migration assistant, diagnostics, block patterns and the [simplio3d] shortcode.
  • Legacy mode: existing installations keep the v1 integration unchanged. Fixed: a [simplio3d_configurator] height given without a unit (including the default) now renders at the intended height; oversized data-URL thumbnails are ignored.

1.0.1

  • Fixed Plugin Check warnings and improved production readiness.
  • Improved WooCommerce add to cart request handling and validation.
  • Added order webhooks for external order creation and status updates.
  • Improved cart integration reliability for configurator-based products.

1.0

  • Initial release with shortcode support and WooCommerce cart integration.
